Drew Barrymore has spoken out in an interview with People magazine about her struggles with substance abuse and rehab treatment at 13 and said she is glad she became a «walking cautionary tale» for her parents. She said she’s not ashamed of revealing how she started drinking at 10 and using drugs at 12, which got her into a teen rehab center.
«When I look at it now, I don’t see the tragedy. I like that I’ve become a kind of walking cautionary tale,» says Drew Barrymore.
According to the 49-year-old actress, her story has influenced many parents to think about proper parenting. «I feel like it gives me such a nice little merit badge to be a part of this discussion and to know how to have these conversations with my kids as a parent myself,» she said. The actress has two daughters, 11-year-old Olive and 10-year-old Frankie.
